The Rovers’ beer is so strong you end up seeing double – at least that’s what Corrie’s Ken and Deirdre Barlow thought when they came face-to face with themselves propping up the bar.

Soap stars Bill Roache and Anne Kirkbride are thrilled their characters have now been immortalised in wax.

Bill, 79, who has been playing Ken for 50 years, joked: “It’s amazing to ‘meet’ me. But, to be honest, I think he’s probably better looking.”

Anne, 57, added: “I hope the public enjoy sitting alongside us.”

The waxworks join other favourites from the long-running ITV1 soap, including Hilda Ogden and Bet Lynch, at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool.
