Gorgeous Cottages – Croft House Starbottom

Croft House is set in the picture postcard village of Starbotton in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. From the cottage you can enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding countryside from almost every room. And of course as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply paradise for walkers and cyclists – perfect if you want to just strike out from the cottage without having to jump in the car. The village of Starbotton is also home to a great village pub, just a stone’s throw from the cottage it’s a great option if you don’t feel like cooking one night.

The equally gorgeous villages of Kettlewell, Arncliffe and Grassington are within easy reach and are all well worth a visit. Just a few miles further you’ll find the vibrant market town of Settle home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants pubs and shops including the famous Ye Olde Naked Man Café in the square. There’s also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday, the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. In town you can also hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which take you over the well-known Ribblehead viaduct.

Set in beautiful Wharedale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Croft House is a traditional and cosy stone built cottage boasting stunning views from almost every room. Sleeping up to 6 people in 4 bedrooms (with a games room) it’s the perfect holiday cottage for families and groups of friends. And if you’re a keen walker, this property is holiday heaven!

Dating back to the 17th Century, Croft House is full of original character with exposed stone walls, oak beams and low doorways creating an atmospheric and comforting appeal. Downstairs you’ll discover a generous sitting room with a roaring open fire at its heart and warm wood panelling on the walls. Snuggle down on the comfy sofas, light up the fire and enjoy a good old catch-up over a bottle of wine.

There’s a Freeview TV and DVD player in here, and Wi-Fi is included too. Plenty of books and games are provided if you fancy some offline fun with the kids. Walking maps are also provided if you want to strike out from the doorstep. The views out to the garden and Dale beyond are delightful from this room.

The cottage kitchen is just across from here and sits next to the separate dining area. The kitchen has an electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and toaster included for your convenience. A separate utility houses a large fridge/freezer, washing machine and ironing equipment.

The dining room is the central room in the house and is full of character with its stone walls and original stone fireplace. A gorgeous place to dine and enjoy family time together.

An additional reception room / snug can be accessed from the dining room. Perfect if the kids (or the adults!) need their own space. This room comes complete with a sofa bed and enjoys direct views out to the garden. A wet-room style bathroom sits off this room and features a large walk-in shower with WC. Underfloor heating is a nice addition to this room.

All of the bedrooms in Croft House are upstairs; 2 double rooms and two singles. The first double boasts those exposed stone walls and beams again, with stunning views across the Dales. The second double sits at the rear of the cottage and offers peace and quiet to those who prefer to be tucked away. Both singles have full size beds which sleep adults comfortably.

The family bathroom is also upstairs and includes a bath with a shower overhead. Perfect if you need to bathe little ones, or if you fancy a long hot soak after a day’s walking in the Dales.

Outside the property you’ll find a wonderful mature and South-facing garden with a large lawn and patio to dine at the warmer months. Garden furniture and a Weber BBQ are provided for you. The views from here are simply fabulous. Throw out a picnic blanket, settle down and just soak up the sights and sounds of the Yorkshire Dales from the comfort of your gorgeous garden. And when the mood takes you, wander down to the local village pub for a drink or bite to eat…
